I had never encountered a book before which specifically addresses the relationship between depression and exercise in a clear and fun format- anyone feeling a bit low or anyone looking to figure out exactly why they feel so great when they are exercising regularly should grab a copy of the book! For weight loss, you have to concentrate on what you eat and exercising becomes secondary. AMC addresses nutrition, but you have to stick their recommendations if want the fat to come off. Basic summary of the book: Work out intensely and eat a clean diet.  Nothing revolutionary here.  Although I did like the section that talked about manliness vs. stereotypical macho stuff that often passes for manliness.

&lt;br /&gt;A couple of things I did not like about the book:
&lt;br /&gt;  - It&#039;s only a 10 week challenge.  You can shed a significant amount of fat in that time, but to build any appreciable muscle takes a LOT longer than that.
&lt;br /&gt;  - The alpha scale presented uses biceps size as a measure, but there is nothing to correlate biceps size to your body structure.  Biceps size is largely determined by your bone structure.  Would have liked to see biceps measured against height/weight or waist size to make it more meaningful.
&lt;br /&gt;  - Trying to hold the workout frequency suggested long term not realistic for most trainees in my opinion.
&lt;br /&gt;  
&lt;br /&gt;The diet advice was very good.  Eat clean, unprocessed foods.  Eat more frequent, smaller meals.  Solid.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;If you are looking for a book on body transformation, I prefer either Brawn or Build Muscle, Lose Fat, Look Great by Stuart McRobert.

It&#039;s good to make as much in our life as simple as possible. This book will make your workouts simple. But it will also make you strong and toned and help you burn fat.

&lt;br /&gt;Nothing beats dumbbells. I bought this book because I have a unique problem at this time and needed a way to workout but take it easy on a torn rotator cuff. I can&#039;t lift the barbell at all because my right arm has lost most of it&#039;s mobility. It&#039;s coming back but it&#039;s not totally back.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;So I needed a way to workout and not let my muscles atrophy. So now I can use a lighter weight in my right hand and my regular heavy weight in my left and do bench presses. No, it&#039;s not ideal. But it works.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;Of course, that&#039;s not what this book is about. It&#039;s not for those with injuries. It&#039;s for anyone. All you really need are dumbbells. The author even tells you the various types you can get and the advantages and disadvantages of each.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;To your dumbbells you will probably want to add a bench or, at the least, a fitness ball. But for a small investment, you can get all you need to get a real workout in the privacy of your home. And I mean a &quot;safe&quot; workout.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;The author gives exercises for all levels. He describes them fully and tells you how you should go about each exercise, how many reps and sets.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;Oh, and gals, don&#039;t be afraid to buy the book. You have muscles too.
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;This is a great resource and I highly recommend it to you.
